Hi, I'm Will.

I help businesses build and implement practical strategy plans to accelerate their vision, grow their communities, and better steward their resources.

About Me

I'm a Kentucky boy who has spent half my life in the Bluegrass state and half in the mountains of Colorado.  I find my greatest peace on a mountain trail near a meandering river capturing the heart of any living soul.

My career has been spent working with organizations and businesses to develop engagement strategies for business growth.  I've been incredibly fortunate to have worked in nearly 50 countries and with dozens of organizations refining my skills to build better systems and strategies.

I'm blessed to have an amazing wife and three crazy boys that keep us quite busy chasing them down and running interference for their wild personalities and differences.

I'm wired to assist leaders and organizations to construct sustainable and scalable models to see business and community growth.  I've done this time and time again and look forward to the journies ahead in serving and leading organizational and strategic growth.

Cause Machine

Founder & Chief Architect | 2014 - present

Working with so many organizations quickly painted a picture for me of the common needs... especially for organizations building a tribe around their vision.  These experiences compelled me to launch the Cause Machine platform to give more businesses the tools to grow their audiences and monetize their communities.

Now several years into this launch we've seen Cause Machine grow to serve global businesses, create significant revenue streams for our clients, and grown communities with more than a million individuals.

Cause Machine is a web-based platform for individuals and businesses to grow and monetize their audience.

Global Missions Health Conference

Executive Director | 2004 - present

Leadership engaged me to lead the GMHC with little to no experience in conferences and certainly no medical experience.  That leap of faith for both parties has been a wonderful journey of almost two decades now and one that's navigated exciting new paths for global engagement.

The Global Missions Health Conference is an annual event and community website to engage healthcare workers to use their skills around the world for a greater impact and purpose.

ServiceReef

Co-Founder & CEO | 2012 - present

Many experiences in my career came without pursuit and somewhat fell in my lap.  A great deal of those were on a global stage where businesses and non-profits were seeking to have a great impact on the world.

I quickly saw the significant needs to better manage the logistics of global serving and the growing need to help people individually build their personal missional story.  This all lead to the launch of ServiceReef with my close friend, Micah Pritchard.

ServiceReef is a web-based platform helping thousands of organizations manage their missional engagement while helping individuals build a life-style of missional living.

The Truth Project

Strategy Developer

I was fortunate to have several seasons to work with the Truth Project team to develop strategies for this excellent curriculum and help shape the college student version.

Scatter Global

Launch Strategist & Co-Founder

In the midst of many shifting strategies in mission work today, Scatter Global was launched to engage the market place worker in global placements.  Working with this team to both launch and optimize the strategies for engaging these individuals and creating a global community of those passionate about leveraging their skills for mission work was a great joy.

My time at Focus on the Family revolved around multiple projects though mostly focused on global development and innovations.  We worked hand in hand with the 20+ global offices to build shared best practices, global assessment tools, product innovations, and more.  Additionally, we served the highest levels of leadership to help shape and craft future strategies.

Focus Leadership Institute

Director of Student Development

My first job out of college was working with 80+ new college students each semester and leading the student development team.  Here we launched the Climb High program and focused our energy on creating an excellent living-learning environment that complimented the excellent teachings from the classroom.

Summit Energy

Cafe Summit Co-Creator

Here we created a learning program for a rapidly growing company to help onboard new employees through a creative model of a cafe and menu selection of key learning practices of the energy procurement industry.

Milligan University

Graduate & Student Body President

My studies took me to a small school in Tennessee which I honestly chose because it was in the mountains, had a stream running through campus, and had the degree programs I wanted.  Little did I know this place would so significantly shape who I became.

The studies were excellent in how they forced you to think and problem solve but it was more so the leadership experiences through Student Government that pushed me further into realizing a desire to serve others and lead projects and organizations.  I left Milligan with such greater tools and confidence.

US Air Force Academy

Double Nomination

My dream for years had been to attend the US Air Force Academy.  I used to sign USAFA under my name... it was that bad.  Space, rockets, and flight had always fascinated me from a young age and this place just felt like it was the right and best place for me.

I pursued all roads to attend and finally earned two nominations but near the end of my senior year in high school, there was a strong tug on my heart to take a different path and to work with organizations - in leadership and strategic growth.  I didn't know at the time the journey ahead but I knew the path was shifting.

People to People

Student Ambassador | Australia & New Zealand

A letter arrived one day with a nomination to be part of a small contingent of students to spend a summer in Australia and New Zealand in a student ambassador program.  This was an opportunity I didn't want to miss.

We spent several weeks in both countries living in host homes, visiting with government officials, learning local history, and soaking in the local culture.  This may have been the greatest experience for me as a young man learning more about who I was and how I was wired to engage new cultures and even lead groups.  I came back different.

Boy Scouts of America

Eagle Scout | Six Eagle Palms

Boy Scouts was part of my life from an early age with my mom's influence and continued through high school having found a great Troop and my dad's involvement. The adventures were amazing learning to lead an 80 scout troop, monthly excursions, weeks backpacking in New Mexico, and sailing the Bahamas and the Florida Keys.

I thought my journey was finished when I earned my Eagle Scout rank but was quickly enchanted again by a Scoutmaster who had six Eagle Palms and a challenge to beat his record for a trip to Alaska.  Three years later we set out for Alaska.  Boy Scouts was extremely formative for me in leadership development skills and enhancing my love for the outdoors.
